Principal Data Engineer

The Principal Data Engineer will be responsible for the development, documentation and implementation of our Data stack, Data Warehouse and ETL Pipelines. Vivrelle is currently utilizing a custom implementation of Craft CMS and all data is currently housed in the Craft MySQL Database. As Principal Data Engineer, your first contribution to the team will involve cleaning and collating our data and assisting with the transition to a new ecommerce platform; maintaining member data and member experience at a high level. In the immediate term, this role will straddle data infrastructure and data analysis with an emphasis on designing and future-proofing our ecommerce, inventory, and membership data models.

This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering and is a full-time position in our Manhattan HQ or remote in California.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Collating data from disparate systems into a scalable data warehouse (currently data lives in Stripe, Craft CMS, MySQL, and low-code apps such as Google Sheets and MailChimp)
  • Build and manage Vivrelle’s ETL pipelines utilizing a code-first scalable approach that can be easily replicated and documented
  • Create monitoring processes for ETL services
  • Create, refactor, troubleshoot, test and maintain our Data codebase
  • Implement a best-in-class BI tool and build self-service business-relevant reporting
  • Create custom reporting and perform deep-dive analysis for business units in response to business questions including finance, marketing, digital product, and ops
  • Work with finance to model the unique aspects of our business
  • Drive business efficiency by automating manual tasks of nontechnical teams including showroom and retail operations, inventory management, and warehouse logistics
  • Maintain data security standards in compliance with GDPR and CCPA

Your Skills and Qualifications Include:

  • Expert level experience with Python and SQL
  • Expert level experience with at least one BI tool such as Tableau, Domo, Quicksite, Lookr
  • 7+ years in data engineering and data analysis using SQL and Python
  • Experience guiding the implementation of analytics platforms, AB testing platforms and an understanding of best practices in implementation from a data standpoint
  • Experience in, and a deep understanding of, the fundamentals of a subscription business is required. Including but not limited to an understanding of acquisition, churn, ltv, cac and the various models for each.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant technical experience
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clean data requirements
  • Experience in a multi-channel rental business is preferred
